Caged Sanity
[/center]Humanity has always tried to 'play god'. It started with rats. It moved to dogs. It moved to cats. It moved to people. They just weren't satisfied. They moved on to horses. They took horses of all breeds, all types, all qualities, and they tested them. Continuously. It went on like that for a thousand years. The animals never new what freedom was. They no longer remembered what they had been created for. They were hard-wired for violence. They were replaced in the real world.
Studied and prodded, mechanics developed robots made to resemble horses. Easy upkeep! Great fun! You don't have to worry about it rotting away in a stall! All of this was started by the government. Driven by it's desire to be the best, to be in control, to be god. They wanted the horses for themselves, because they were so resilient to the treatments. More could be done with them than ever before. They wold mutate and perfect the mutations over generations! It fascinated the government. They were envious. They wanted that for themselves. So they mechanical horses came out, the real, living, breathing, creatures went away.
Those long, thousand years took their toll on the horses. They stopped tolerating the abuse. They stopped obeying. They started rallying. It was a war between horses and humans. The war led to the humans destruction. In all their testing they had not realized they had genetically altered the animals so much that they could survive a nuclear apocalypse. The people created just that, the apocalypse, and destroyed themselves. The earth has yet to recover. There is no beauty in the world.
Those that did survive have never told their story. Their young don't know the truth. The truth. . . the truth is that not just the genetic testing has modified the horses. Some have been altered by the nuclear radiation. Some have not. The lesson learned? Man was not meant to be god. . .what will you be?We are. . .
